Admission Procedure and Criteria for Admission

The phd admission as well as mphil admission to the Manav Rachna University are made based on merit in its research entrance exam and interview. These entrance test and interview are now conducted as per the provisions and regulations given in the new UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degrees) (1st Amendment) Regulations, 2018. Now, the weightage given to the performance of a candidate in the written test and the interview is 70% and 30%, respectively for the purpose of admissions.

Now, the syllabus of the research entrance test conducted by the university will comprise 50% Research Methodology and Aptitude (Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Statistics, etc.), and 50% Subject-Specific matters. Noteworthy here also is the fact that, now the candidates belonging to any reserved categories [SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layers)/Differently-abled] will have to score just 45% in the written test to qualify for the final selection interview/viva voce. However, the general category candidates must score at least 50% in the entrance test, to be able to face the interview.

The eligibility criteria for participating in the doctoral research entrance test of MRU are the following in general:

• A Master's degree in the selected field/subject with at least 55% marks in aggregate; or an equivalent degree and grade (as per UGC 7-point scale), obtained from any duly recognized university. The reserved categories candidates will be given a relaxation of 5% in this aggregate mark at postgraduation.
• Candidates holding an M.Phil. degree in the proposed subject/stream, are exempted from participating in the entrance test; such candidates will have to directly appear for the interview.
• Good and admirable academic records, and any prior experience in research works, will be additional advantages.
• Lastly, candidates who have qualified UGC- NET (including JRF)/ UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE, etc., need not to appear in the entrance exam.
