Manipal University in India

The Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences, established in 1995, is the first government-private initiative in the region. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission and approved by the Government of India. It is a branch of the Manipal University in Manipal, Karnataka.

Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) is a unique private-government partnership in the field of higher education between the Manipal Group and the Government of Sikkim. SMU DDE is well equipped with IT infrastructure, and well supported by a pool of academic faculty and University recognised learning centers, good administrative set-up and support services to serve its student clientele. DDE has the unique facility of offering Interactive Distance Learning Solutions through VSAT (Satellite Technology) thereby breaking the barriers of time, geography and distance.
