Kannada University
One of the highly reputed and immensely popular public universities in Karnataka for rich and innovative educational and research courses in Kannada literature and culture, and other south Indian languages, is the Kannada University. This long-awaited and ambitious teaching-cum-research university was established under the kannada University Act, 1991 of Karnataka. Situated near Hampi, this kannada university is dedicated to providing rich and constructive education and research in the Kannada language and literature, traditions and culture, and the folklore of Karnataka. The present placid and glamorous campus (since 1994) of this kannada university, known as Vidyaranya, is located at Hospet of the Bellary district of the State. Two more satellite campuses of this famous kannada university are located at Badami (with the department of Sculpture and Visual Arts) and at Kuppalli (where the renowned Kuvempu Research Centre is situated).
