Welcome to Jamia Millia Islamia University

Originally, this institution was established in Aligarh in the year 1920, Jamia Millia Islamia, became a Central University when an act was passed by the Indian Parliament in 1988.

The first chancellor of Jamia was Hakim Ajmal Khan and he became VC on 22 November 1920. The Jamia was declared as a 'deemed to be University' in 1962 by the University Grants Commission.

The list of the Faculties included Natural Sciences, Education, Social Sciences, Humanities & Languages, Engineering & Technology and Faculty of Law. Later many more faculties were added.
