A prominent technical institute, Anna University is located in Tamil Nadu, India. Established on September 4, 1978, Anna University has four technical institutions in the city of Chennai. The university includes College of Engineering, Guindy, Madras Institute of Technology, Alagappa College of Technology and the School of Architecture and Planning. Anna University was named after C. N. Annadurai.

Anna University Campus and Location
In the southern part of Chennai, the main campus of the University is situated. The area is sprawled over 100 acres (400,000 m?). The campus is located adjacent to the Adyar River and the Raj Bhavan. Anna University incorporates College of Engineering, Guindy, Alagappa College of Technology, and School of Architecture and Planning.
The University of Madras campus houses three technical departments. The first campus namely the Madras Institute of Technology at Chromepet constitutes the second campus and extends over 200,000 sq.meter. Taramani near the Instronic campus, Adyar is the third campus of the University. Anna University also offers distance education programs and thereby created a "Centre for Distance Education". The center offers MCA, MBA and M.Sc. computer related courses.
